Thanks to the EU’s effective flight safety standards, air traffic safety in the EU is among the best in the world. The EU works with the safety authorities of its member states, other countries, and international aviation organisations to raise global safety standards. However, some airlines still fail to meet key safety requirements.
The European Commission wants to further improve air traffic safety in Europe. Therefore, in consultation with the air traffic safety authorities of the member states, the Commission has decided to ban some airlines operating in European airspace. This applies to airlines that have insufficient safety procedures and/or those that are not sufficiently monitored by the authorities in their home countries.
The European Commission has updated its list of airlines banned from operating in the EU. You can download the full list of airlines that are banned in the EU from the European Commission’s website.
